Murder Investigation in Beloit

On Sunday, September 5, 2021, at approximately 7:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Portland in the City of Beloit for a man down.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying between two houses. Officers determined the male to be deceased and contacted the medical examiner.

Beloit Police Department Detectives are actively investigating this death as a homicide with evidence showing the individual was shot by gunfire.

Our investigation has led us to identify the victim as 19-year-old male with ties to Beloit. We are not identifying the victim.

We send our sincerest condolences to the victim’s loved ones.

“This will not be tolerated,” said Chief Andre Sayles. “Our men and women here at the Beloit Police Department are out actively seeking justice for those who harmed by gunfire in the City of Beloit. We are going to continue to put forth efforts that we have had over the last 3-4 weeks in the City of Beloit to curtail this crime. Our detectives and our police officers have worked hard and put in long hours. They will continue to do so because they are dedicated to bringing justice to the City of Beloit.”
