DELAFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Police say the man suspected of shooting two police officers in Wisconsin and who is wanted in North Dakota for an attempted murder has been arrested.
Delafield Police Chief Erik Kehl says the man was arrested without resistance in a field not far from the Holiday Inn where the officers were shot early Friday in Waukesha County, about 27 miles west of Milwaukee.
Police earlier identified the man as 23-year-old Nathanael Benton, wanted in Fargo for a shooting.
DELAFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Police say two officers were shot and wounded in Wisconsin by a man wanted for attempted murder in North Dakota.
In Wisconsin, Delafield police say the two officers confronted a man early Friday suspected of a hit-and-run crash outside a Holiday Inn in Waukesha County, about 27 miles west of Milwaukee.
Chief Erik Kehl says the officers’ wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police in North Dakota say they were notified Friday morning that the shooting in Delafield involved 23-year-old Nathanael Benton, a man wanted in their city for attempted murder. He remains at large.
UPDATE — Authorities have provided a picture of the suspect who allegedly shot two officers in Waukesha County overnight.
They said he is Nathaniel Benton and he is wanted in North Dakota.
Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
DELAFIELD — Two officers were shot in Waukesha County overnight and the suspect has not been found, according to police.
Authorities confirmed the information early this morning.
We’re told both officers, one from Delafield and the other from Hartland, have non life-threatening injuries.
They were reportedly responding to what they thought was a hit-and-run.
