Fatal Shooting in Beloit

At 11:27 a.m., the Rock County Communications Center received a complaint of shots fired in the 1700 block of Porter Ave.

City of Beloit Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Porter Ave.

Upon officers’ arrival, they located one (1) male subject with apparent trauma to his upper body as a result of a gunshot wound.

Unfortunately, the man did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.


The Beloit Police Department’s Special Operations Division is currently processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. The circumstances leading up to this shooting are under investigation, however, based on preliminary information detectives do believe the victim and suspect(s) knew each other and that this shooting was a targeted assault.

There is no suspect information to provide at this time.
