New Milford Incident: Vehicle Recovered from River; Fatality Unconfirmed
Authorities were observed conducting a recovery operation in the New Milford area earlier today after a vehicle was reportedly found in a nearby river. According to information provided by a source at the scene, emergency crews used heavy equipment, including a crane, to remove a vehicle from the water.
Law enforcement and fire personnel were present, and traffic in the immediate area appeared to be partially restricted during the operation.
Preliminary details from the source indicate the vehicle may have struck a guardrail before entering the river nose-first. The exact circumstances leading up to the crash have not been officially confirmed, and it remains unclear how long the vehicle was in the water prior to recovery.
The same source reported that a law enforcement officer or deputy went down toward the vehicle during the response and later returned visibly shaken. The source further claimed that the driver may have been deceased.
However, this information has not been independently verified, and no official confirmation regarding injuries or fatalities has been released at this time.
At this stage, no identifying information about the driver has been made available, and officials have not yet issued a formal statement.
It is standard procedure for authorities to notify next of kin before releasing further details in incidents involving potential fatalities.
Motorists in the area may continue to experience delays as crews complete their work and investigators assess the scene.
More information is expected to be released once authorities complete their preliminary investigation.
This is a developing situation. Updates will be provided as soon as confirmed details become available.

An incident reported by a local resident is raising concern in the community after claims that a family dog was shot and killed during a police response in Rockford.
According to information provided by the alleged victim, the incident reportedly occurred in the 900 block of Rockton Avenue sometime recently. The individual claims that officers from the Rockford Police Department were in the area while allegedly pursuing a suspect when the situation unfolded.
The reporting party alleges that during the incident, officers shot and killed a German Shepherd. "Pluto’s life ended in a heartbreaking and sudden way while someone ran through our yard and the police fired their weapons, striking him twice. "

Proposed Illinois Legislation Would Regulate Handgun Ammunition Sales and Tracking
Illinois House Bill 4414 proposes new handgun ammunition serialization, tracking requirements, and fees. Here’s a factual breakdown of the proposed legislation and what it could mean if passed.
A bill introduced in the Illinois General Assembly could significantly change how handgun ammunition is sold, tracked, and regulated across the state if it becomes law.
According to legislative records, Illinois House Bill 4414 was introduced during the 2025–2026 legislative session by Anne Stava-Murray. The proposal outlines several measures related specifically to handgun ammunition, including serialization requirements, transaction tracking, and potential fees.
Key Provisions Outlined in the Proposal
Based on the bill text and official summaries, one of the primary components would require that, beginning January 1, 2027, certain handgun ammunition sold or possessed in Illinois be identifiable through unique serialization. This would apply to ammunition manufactured, imported, or sold within the state.
The legislation also proposes the creation of a centralized database, which would be administered by the Illinois State Police. This system would record ammunition transactions, including purchaser identification and associated serialized information, with the stated goal of improving traceability.
In addition, the bill includes language allowing for a fee of up to five cents per round of ammunition sold. According to the proposal, any collected fees would be directed to the State of Illinois, though the specific allocation of those funds would be determined through the legislative and budgeting process.
Enforcement and Legal Considerations
The proposal also outlines potential penalties related to non-compliance. Under the current draft, possession of non-serialized handgun ammunition in certain circumstances, such as in public places, could result in a Class C misdemeanor. However, as with all legislation, enforcement details and definitions would depend on final bill language if passed into law.
The bill includes exemptions for certain groups, including law enforcement personnel, members of the military, and other individuals who may be authorized under specific conditions.
Legislative Status and Context
At this time, HB4414 remains a proposed piece of legislation and has not been enacted into law. Like all bills introduced in the Illinois General Assembly, it would need to move through committee review, potential amendments, and votes in both legislative chambers before being sent to the governor for consideration.
Supporters and critics of similar measures in other jurisdictions have raised a range of perspectives, including public safety considerations, implementation feasibility, cost impacts, and legal questions. However, any final outcome regarding this specific proposal will depend on the legislative process and potential revisions.
Residents are encouraged to review official legislative sources for the most current and accurate updates regarding the status of this bill.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. — The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office has determined that no laws or rules were violated in connection with a recently approved public safety radio upgrade project, according to reporting from local media.
The review comes after concerns were raised regarding the process used to pursue the purchase of new portable radios for the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. The issue centered on whether proper procedures were followed prior to formal approval by the Winnebago County Board.
According to previously reported information, the County Board approved funding for a multi-million-dollar radio replacement program intended to modernize communication systems used by public safety personnel. The upgrade includes approximately 330 radios distributed across multiple departments, including the sheriff’s office, corrections, probation, detention, and animal services.
Officials have stated that the current radio equipment is nearing the end of its usable life, with reported reliability concerns that could impact communication during emergency situations. The new system is expected to improve connectivity, response efficiency, and overall safety for both first responders and the public.
The concerns that prompted the State’s Attorney review were raised by a former deputy chief, who questioned whether a “notice to proceed” related to the radio purchase may have been issued prior to formal board approval and secured funding. Those concerns were formally submitted for legal review.
Following that review, the State’s Attorney’s Office concluded that there was no evidence of illegal activity, violations of county ordinance, or ethical misconduct related to the handling of the radio upgrade process, according to the report.
The Winnebago County Sheriff has publicly denied any wrongdoing. In prior statements, the sheriff described the allegations as inaccurate and politically motivated, while also emphasizing that the project involved coordination among multiple departments, including county administration, financial officials, and purchasing personnel.
County officials have maintained that the radio upgrades are critical infrastructure investments aimed at improving communication reliability during high-risk incidents. The equipment is expected to be funded through public safety-related revenue sources, including sales tax allocations designated for such purposes.
As of now, the project remains approved and moving forward, with no legal findings preventing its implementation.
The City of Rockford initiated an early morning response to changing weather conditions on March 18, 2026, as crews from the Public Works Department began salting major roadways across the city.
According to an official press release, arterial route salting operations started at approximately 2:00 a.m., signaling a proactive effort to maintain safe driving conditions for commuters during potentially hazardous weather.
City officials indicated that the decision to deploy salt trucks during the overnight hours was based on current and anticipated road conditions.
Arterial routes—typically the most heavily traveled roads—are prioritized in these operations to ensure that emergency services, public transportation, and daily traffic can continue to move as safely as possible.
Authorities emphasized that this is an evolving situation, and additional deployments of equipment and personnel will be determined as weather conditions develop throughout the day. Public Works officials are continuing to monitor temperature fluctuations, precipitation, and roadway conditions in real time before making further operational decisions.
Residents are being urged to exercise caution while traveling, particularly when encountering snowplows and salt-spreading vehicles. Officials strongly recommend maintaining a safe following distance behind these vehicles. Not only does this reduce the risk of salt being thrown onto vehicles, which can cause minor damage, but it also provides drivers with adequate space in the event that a plow needs to slow down or maneuver unexpectedly.
City officials also reminded the public that road crews operate under challenging conditions, often with limited visibility and rapidly changing surfaces. Cooperation from drivers plays a critical role in ensuring both public safety and the safety of those working to keep the roads clear.
For further information, residents may contact the City of Rockford Public Works Department directly. Officials including Public Works Superintendent Mitch Leatherby and team members Nick Akers and Scott Sanders are available to address questions regarding current operations and road conditions.
As winter weather continues to impact the region, city officials encourage residents to stay informed through official channels and to allow extra travel time when road conditions are less than ideal.

Drivers are advised to use caution and consider avoiding the area if possible while emergency personnel remain on scene.

Reports of Panic After Possible Gun Sighting
Sadly, Rockford PD chooses to push: CRIME IS DOWN, because it is election year to make the mayor and police look good. Hundreds of children fleeing for their lives, and Rockford PD, says "Nothing Happened" Food for thought.....
Personal note: I have talked to the owner of Flow, in the past. He is a professional upstanding guy, during the few minutes I did talk to him. He was honest, and said we are so popular that at times, there is so many kids having fun, That it is impossible, for something not to happen. Usually just some fist fights, words exchanged. My personal opinion: I think that is what happened tonight. Disorderly people.
I just find it extremely sad, that Rockford PD can not be HONEST with our community, and chooses encryption and lies.
To all you haters that say I do NOT research, before I post.
This is my text message to the Rockford PD PIO officer, asking about what happened. And as you can see, she has not (And probably WILL NOT) respond.
Even though Rockford PD told me if I had any questions, they would respond with an answer.
Do you see a response???
Rockford PD claims transparency.
But pushes "Crime is Down"
And everything has become "Domestic" related.
To make crime appear to go down.
And more money for the Peace Center.
Do your research...
I tried to get answers, for HONESTY and TRANSPARENCY.
Sadly, Rockford PD chooses encryption and silence.
Feel free to call the Rockford PD and ask yourself:
815-966-2900
I think Michelle, would be pissed if I gave out her number.
So, you all have to call 815-966-2900
Sad, that police can not just be HONEST with our community.
But I have become the bad guy, because I ask questions to get answers. And asking questions, makes you bad these days in Rockford. Food for thought.

Rockford Police Respond to Multiple Incidents Across the City, According to 72-Hour Dispatch Call Log

Information from the public dispatch records published on the Rockford Police Department 72-hour call log through the Illinois Data Portal shows several incidents that required police attention across different neighborhoods in Rockford over the past few days. The incidents include reports of shots fired, calls involving potential life-safety concerns, a reported battery with a weapon, and a medical assistance request. The following information is based strictly on publicly available dispatch data.
Shots Fired Investigation – Sandy Hollow Road
According to dispatch records, Rockford Police were called to the 900 block of Sandy Hollow Road on March 11, 2026, at approximately 10:14 PM. The call was logged under incident number 26-051455 and categorized as “Shots Fired.” The location falls within Reporting District RPD D2.
A “shots fired” classification typically indicates that police received reports of gunfire in the area or evidence suggesting shots may have been discharged. Dispatch logs do not always confirm whether anyone was injured or whether a suspect was located, as those details are often determined later through police investigations.
Police commonly respond to such calls by checking the area for victims, witnesses, or physical evidence such as shell casings. At this time, the dispatch log confirms the initial response but does not include additional investigative outcomes.
Person Life Safety Call – Gramercy Drive
A second call occurred shortly after midnight on March 13, 2026, when officers were dispatched to 343 Gramercy Drive. The incident, recorded as case number 26-052343, was classified as “In Progress – Person Life Safety.” The call was logged at 12:11 AM within Reporting District RPD D3.
Calls involving person life safety typically indicate that dispatchers received information suggesting someone may be at risk of immediate harm or requires urgent police attention. Situations that can fall under this category may include welfare checks, threats, or other circumstances where officers must quickly assess safety.
Dispatch records confirm the time and location of the response. Additional details about the outcome of the call are generally released later through official reports or investigations.
Life Safety Call – East State Street
Another person life safety call was reported the previous evening on March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:13 PM. The call was also categorized as “In Progress – Person Life Safety” and occurred within RPD District D3.
