Charges after Reckless Discharge of Stolen Gun
ROCKFORD, IL – On Friday, January 3, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Rockford
Police SCOPE officers responded to the 4100 block of Auburn Street (Auburn Manor) for
a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they learned that an adult female, later
identified as Adaija Williams, fired into the air in the parking lot. She was located a short
time later hiding inside an apartment, was taken into custody, and lodged in the County
Jail. During the investigation, SCOPE officers located a loaded handgun, reported stolen
out of Rockford.
The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the
charges listed below.
Adaija Williams, 21, Rockford
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
No Valid FOID
Obstructing Identification
Outstanding Warrant
Alonzo Chavis, 34, Rockford
Concealing/Aiding a Fugitive
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless
proven guilty in a court of law.
