Additional Charges for October 8, 2024 Incidents
ROCKFORD, IL – On October 8, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Rockford Police
officers were in the area of Guilford and Mulford Roads when they were flagged down
for reports of shots fired from vehicles and then subsequently witnessed a traffic crash
between one of the vehicles and a vehicle unrelated to the incident.
The offending vehicle was reported as stolen and observed to be struck by gunfire. Multiple subjects
ran from the stolen vehicle and two were taken into custody a short time later. A third
subject was located nearby with a non-life-threatening graze wound and was also taken
into custody. During the investigation, officers located two loaded handguns, one with
an extended magazine, from inside the stolen vehicle.
Rockford Police officers were later notified of a robbery minutes before the above
incident involving the same individuals. A teenage male met up with the subjects for an
online purchase transaction and entered the backseat of the stolen vehicle involved in
the later incident. He was pushed out of that vehicle and was partially run over.
As the stolen vehicle was leaving the area, two unknown subjects entered another vehicle and
chased the stolen vehicle. Shortly after, the two vehicles were observed exchanging
gunfire at Guilford and Mulford Roads. One of those vehicles drove away from the area.
Rockford Police Detectives continued to investigate and were able to, with the assistance
of the Loves Park Police Department, identify and locate the other vehicle allegedly
involved in the above shooting in the 6000 block of Park Ridge Drive in Loves Park.
Multiple subjects were observed exiting the residence and during the investigation,
Rockford Police Detectives recovered over two grams of cocaine and cash from Lance
Woods. Search warrants were subsequently authorized for the residence in the 6000
block of Park Ridge Drive, and also a residence in the 6700 block of Academy Trail.
While executing the search warrant on the residence on Park Ridge Drive, officers located cash,
a money-counting machine, and drug paraphernalia. While executing the search warrant
on Academy Trail, Detectives located and recovered a loaded handgun.
After a review of the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.
Lance Woods, 46, Rockford
Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver
(lodged in County Jail)
According to the Winnebago County Jail, the charges are:
NONE, but held on a pending felony charges.
Chauncy Bueno, 26, Rockford
Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
(lodged in County Jail) Aggravated Discharge
Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon
According to the Winnebago County Jail, the charges are:

625 ILCS 5.0/11-501-A-3 DUI INTOXICATING COMPOUND
720 ILCS 5.0/12-3.05-E-1 AGG BATTERY/DISCHARGE FIREARM
720 ILCS 5.0/24-1.2-A-2 AGG DISCHARGE FIREARM/OCC VEH
720 ILCS 5.0/24-1.1-A FELON POSS/USE WEAPON/FIREARM
As with all investigations, there may be additional charges and arrests.
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless
proven guilty in a court of law.
