Response to Construction Site Incident on N Alpine Road
On Monday, May 20, 2024, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department, and Village of Machesney Park responded to an incident involving the collapse of a building expansion under construction at a local manufacturing facility on N Alpine Road.
The collapse occurred early this afternoon at a facility located on the 9900 block of N Alpine Road. Three workers were injured, and two were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The incident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with assistance from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department.

Allegedly What May Have Happened: Partial Structural Collapse
Alleged Approx. Location: 9900 block of N Alpine Road/Machesney Park/Hennig Systems
Alleged Approx. Time: 1:35 pm
At approximately 1:35 this afternoon emergency personnel were called
to the area of 9904 N Alpine Road, in Machesney Park,
for reports part of the building has collapsed.
This building is reported to be an industrial complex
that houses Hennig Enclosure Systems among others.
The part of the building that collapsed was all part of the new construction. Three cranes with operators inside went down with the entire new structure, beams and all.
Two crane operators were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. One refused needing treatment/transport.
A Mabas Box 13 & 17 to the box alarms have been struck for a technical rescue but were cancelled after the rest of the buildings were cleared.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
Keep everyone involved in your thoughts and prayers.
Sources on the scene said those who were injured,
were a part of the construction crew.
And nobody from Hennig. (Not yet confirmed)
