UPDATE: One body was recovered from the river near/under the Jefferson Street Bridge

Allegedly What May Have Happened:    Water Rescue/Water Recovery 

 Alleged Approx. Location:   215 N Wyman Street/RPL 

 Alleged Approx. Time:   11:10 am

At approximately 11:10 this morning emergency personnel were called to the area of 215 N Wyman Street, at the RPL (Rockford Public Library) building, for reports of a possible water rescue needed.

Initial reports are a person at the library called 911 because they saw someone floating in the water.
Another person was reportedly under the Jefferson Street bridge and said they saw someone floating in the water as well and they reportedly waved down a fireman/ladder truck.

Emergency personnel are still in the area. It’s unclear if this is strictly a body recovery operation but at this time we’ve heard no reports of anyone transported to the hospital by ambulance from the scene.

Avoid the area awhile.
