Allegedly What May Have Happened: Off duty officer allegedly injured in accident/suspect allegedly flees on foot
Alleged Approx. Location: Off E-State St/Dempster Rd area
Alleged Approx. Time: 3:50 pm
At approximately 3:50 this evening emergency personnel were called to the area of E State Street and Dempster Road in Rockford for reports of a multiple vehicle crash.
Initial reports are an off duty police officer was injured and the offender allegedly bailed from the vehicle on foot.
It’s unclear if a initial pursuit caused the accident or if the pursuit began after the alleged offender caused the accident, but what is clear is a perimeter is being set up in the area with multiple officers from multiple jurisdictions and a state police aircraft/helicopter is also said to be involved in the pursuit.
The extent of any injuries is unknown at this time.
