Allegedly What May Have Happened: Red-X building possibly on fire (empty/condemned)
Alleged Approx. Location: 1900 block of 13th St
Alleged Approx. Time: 7:30 pm
At approximately 7:30 this evening emergency personnel were called to another “red-x” building in Rockford for a possible fire/smoke being reported inside. This building is a four story commercial building located in the 1900 block of 13th Street.
Initial reports are smoke, no flames, are being seen from the first floor.
The fire is reported to be possibly in the basement area.
Details are minimal at the moment, the Rockford Fire Department is currently on scene.
Avoid the area.
FYI:
A red-x building is a building that is usually condemned and vacant, they are buildings that are not structurally sound and deemed no one may access the building because it is a safety risk/hazard to anyone who enters, but specifically it’s to alert emergency personnel that they are at risk if they enter.
