Our Opinion:
What Allegedly Happened
Based on the current information,
That has been provided to us.
Allegedly What May Have Happened: Residential Structure Fire
Alleged Approx. Location: 10100 Block of Clearwing Ln/Roscoe
Alleged Approx. Time: 12:20 am
At approximately 12:20 this morning emergency personnel were called to the 10100 block of Clearwing Lane, in Roscoe, for reports of a residential structure fire.
Upon arrival a wall appeared to be “blown out” and flames were showing from the B side of the two story structure.
A Mabas box 11 to the 2nd alarm has been struck for this fire.
It’s unknown at this time if anyone is still inside the apartment/house or if anyone is injured. We will update as further information is released.
UPDATE Per Harlem/Roscoe Fire Department:
Nov. 12th, 2023 at approx. 00:20 hours, Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department was dispatched to a possible residential structure fire in the 10000 block of Monarch Road, Roscoe. While enroute to the call, HRFD’s dispatch advised that Law Enforcement was on scene of a fully involved structure fire with possible victims trapped at 10126 Clearwing Lane. Battalion Chief Jones immediately requested a MABAS Box 11 to the 2nd Alarm be dispatched for additional resources. Upon B/C Jones’ arrival, he found moderate smoke and fire to the south side of a four unit apartment complex with evidence of an explosion present. Law Enforcement had forced entry into an upstairs apartment, finding and removing 1 adult male and 2 small children from the apartment. These individuals were evaluated and released by medical crews on scene. The remaining apartments are currently vacant. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. The explosion had caused significant structural damage and with potential collapse of some (or most) remaining structure still present. Crews remained on scene for several hours until Nicor could arrive and mitigate a natural gas leak that was caused by the damage. HRFD would like to thank all the departments that responded to the scene, as well as the Change of Quarters department that were available to cover any other calls for service that may have been requested within the district during this incident. No injuries or loss of life occurred with this incident; however, a family cat is missing. Please avoid the immediate area around this structure to avoid any potential injury or death resulting from any of the debris or further structural collapse. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, which has been turned over to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
