What May Have Allegedly Happened.
Based on the current information
That has currently been provided to us.
On Saturday, August 19, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Rockford
Police officers responded to an apartment in the 700 block of S. 4th Street for reports of shots
fired inside. Upon arrival, officers were advised that after a verbal argument inside, the suspect,
later identified as Julian Scott, left the residence, but returned and fired into the apartment. A
short time later, Scott was located in the 600 block of 8th Avenue and taken into custody. Officers
were able to locate and recover a handgun, reported stolen out of Rockford.
After a review of the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized
the charges listed below.
Julian Scott, 27, Rockford Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon
Reckless Discharge
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Criminal Trespass to a Residence
Aggravated Assault
