Allegedly What May Have Happened: Shooting

Approx. Location: 200 block of W State Street

Approx. Time: 3:30 am Sunday July 16th

A adult male man was killed in a shooting Sunday morning in Rockford.

He has now been identified as 24 year old Myles Seward.

Officers were called to the Burnham Lofts, in the 200 block of W. State Street at approximately 3:30 a.m., according to the Rockford Police Department, for reports of shots fired with at least one shooting victim on the roof of the building.

They found Myles Seward suffering life-threatening gunshot wounds when they arrived. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he later died.

Police said there was a party held on the rooftop patio during which a verbal argument escalated and the adult male now identified as Myles Seward was shot.

(No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made as of the time of this release.)
