Allegedly What May Have Happened: Possible fire/smoke showing from roof

Approx. Location: 400 W State St

Approx. Time: 2:30 pm

At approximately 2:30 this afternoon emergency personnel were called to a possible fire at the old courthouse in Rockford, located at 400 W State Street.

Smoke was said to have been seen coming from the roof of the building.

It is also being reported electricity is out in at least part of the building and there was people reported to be stuck in a couple elevators as well.

No injuries have been reported as of the time of this article.

We will update when further information is released.

*Updated to say this is not a working structure fire, fire response has been downgraded. The smoke is possibly originating from a pipe. Unknown on why the power is out.

Everyone trapped inside the elevators have been rescued and are all said to be out…
