Rockford Man Charged with Aggravated Robbery and Burglary
ROCKFORD, IL – On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Rockford Police Officers responded to The Salvation
Army store at 4050 E. State Street in reference to a man, later identified as Darian Coleman, who
stole money from an open cash register while the cashier was helping another customer.
On Monday, June 19, 2023, Rockford Police Officers responded again to the same store in
reference to another incident involving Coleman. Officers were advised that as Coleman tried
taking money from the register, the cashier attempted to block him from doing so. Coleman
shoved the employee to the ground, took money from the register, and ran out of the store.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Rockford Police Officers and Detectives located Coleman near The
Salvation Army store and took him into custody.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.
Darian Coleman, 27, Rockford
Aggravated Robbery (Victim 60 or Older)
Burglary (June 6, 2023 Incident)
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
