Suspect Charged With Multiple Burglaries,
Rockford Resident Tracks the Alleged Suspect using Apple Air tags
Rockford Police were notified that multiple vehicles were burglarized in the 2400
block of Meadowview Lane overnight on June 6th. Yesterday evening at approximately 5:30 p.m.,
Rockford Police officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue due to
receiving tracking information from a stolen wallet with an Apple Air Tag inside. Rockford Police
officers stopped a vehicle leaving the residence that matched the suspect vehicle description, and
detained two occupants. Rockford Police Detectives identified one of the occupants as Jonathan
Bailey, who also matched the suspect description in the burglaries. A search warrant for the
residence on Ridge Avenue was obtained, and various stolen property was recovered. Bailey was
taken into custody and lodged in the County Jail.
The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the case and authorized
the following charges:
Jonathan Bailey, 47, Rockford
Residential Burglary
Burglary (5 counts)
Theft (5 counts)
