Couple people arrested after a citizen flags down an officer in Rockford

On Thursday May 25, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Rockford
Police officers were flagged down in the 1100 block of South Alpine regarding several individuals
trespassing and possibly possessing firearms. Upon arrival, officers located and recovered two
loaded handguns in plain view inside of a vehicle. Margarito Castro and Elijah Reynolds were
taken into custody and lodged in the County Jail.

After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.

Margarito Castro, 22, Rockford
Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Elijah Reynolds, 23, Rockford
Unlawful Use of Weapon
