Rockford Women Charged with Filing a False Police Report
ROCKFORD, IL – On Saturday, November 12, 2022, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Rockford Police
officers were dispatched to the area of East State Street and Prospect Street in reference to an
unlawful restraint investigation.
Officers spoke to two 18-year-old females, who advised they were kidnapped from the side of the road near School Street and N. Hinkley Avenue and forced into a vehicle.
The females, later identified as Jelayla Brinson and Tiajia Friar, claimed they later
escaped from the vehicle, and were shot at by the suspect.
Rockford Police Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation which showed inconsistencies in the initial report.
After a review of the facts of the case,
The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the charges listed below.
Brinson and Friar later turned themselves in on these charges.

Tiajia Friar, 18, Rockford Filing a False Police Report (Disorderly Conduct)
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
