AGGRAVATED UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON: On Friday, December 16, 2022, at approximately
5:15 p.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of 800
N. Court Street when two passengers fled on foot. One of the passengers, a 16-year-old male,
was located after a brief foot pursuit and was taken into custody. During the investigation,
officers located and recovered a satchel containing a loaded handgun, reported stolen out of
Rockford. Officers were unable to locate the other passenger, but were able to locate and
recover a handgun, with an extended magazine, reported stolen from Bartlett, Illinois.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below. As with any and all investigations, further charges may be
issued.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A FIREARM: On Saturday, December 17, 2022, at approximately
12:25 a.m., Rockford Police officers were notified regarding a walk-in gunshot victim at a local
hospital. Upon arrival, officers learned that two occupants of a gray sedan robbed the driver of a
blue SUV at the Stop-N-Go on Charles Street, when a female passenger exited the SUV and fired
towards the robbers. Both vehicles then fled the area. A short time later, witnesses observed
the gray sedan drop off a gunshot victim, a 21-year-old male, at the hospital. The gray sedan was
located near Auburn Street and N. Court Street a short time later by Winnebago County Sheriff’s
Deputies, and officers took all three occupants into custody. The gunshot victim is still in critical
condition at this time, but is listed as stable.

After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below. As with any and all investigations, further charges may be
issued.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A FIREARM: On Saturday, December 17, 2022, at approximately
1:05 p.m., Rockford Police officers observed an SUV arrive at a local hospital with multiple bullet
strikes along the driver’s side, and a 25-year-old male with multiple life-threatening gunshot
wounds. Witnesses advised that as the vehicle was on N. Main and Auburn, a gray sedan pulled
up alongside the SUV and began firing. He is listed in critical condition, but stable, at the time of
this release.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A FIREARM: On Sunday, December 18, 2022, at approximately 7:45
p.m., Rockford Police officers were notified of a walk-in gunshot victim at a local hospital. Upon
arrival, officers learned that the victim, a 16-year-old male, was picked up in the 1400 block of
Overdene Avenue, and dropped off at the hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Approximately five minutes later, officers were notified of a 15-year-old gunshot victim inside a
residence in the 1400 block of Barton Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers observed numerous
subjects inside the residence and met with the victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening
gunshot wound to his leg. During the investigation, officers located and recovered four handguns
and ammunition.
As with any and all investigations, further information may be provided at a later date.
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
