UPDATE: Scroll down for the update from Rockford FD
At approximately 11:05 this evening emergency personnel were called to the 3000 block of Lapey Street in Rockford for reports of a structure fire with a young child trapped inside the house.
Upon arrival smoke was seen coming from the B side of the house.
Firefighters rushed inside the house and it’s believed they found the child in a back bedroom of the house.
The child, believed to be a five or six year old male, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The extent of the childs injuries are unknown at this time.
RFD is still on scene getting the fire under control.
We will update as further information is released.
