Due to a fire that occurred on 11/5/22,

UPDATE:

CONTINUED CLOSURE: The Winnebago County Courthouse located at 400 W. State St. will REMAIN CLOSED on Tuesday, November 8th. All court hearings in the Winnebago County Courthouse scheduled on Tuesday, November 8th are cancelled and will be rescheduled EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING:

The morning Drug Court Call of Judge Holmgren scheduled on November 8th in Courtroom 217 will be held VIRTUALLY (no in-person appearances) – Zoom ID 821 7161 1372;
The morning Family Law Call of Judge Bruscato scheduled on November 8th in Courtroom 455 will take place in Courtroom B of the Criminal Justice Center;
The morning Misdemeanor Call of Judge Gibbons scheduled on November 8th in Courtroom 315 will be held VIRTUALLY (no in-person appearances)- Zoom ID 895 4199 8371.

Individuals seeking emergency orders of protection in Winnebago County may come to the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center for in person assistance or make use of the Court’s online request system available at http://illinois17th.com/…/domestic…/online-orders. Additional assistance is available from Remedies Renewing Lives and the Rockford Family Peace Center.

This is a fluid situation. In-person court appearances at the Winnebago County Courthouse are not expected to resume this week. The Court is in process of rescheduling cases, either as entirely virtual proceedings or in alternate locations. Ongoing announcements and scheduling changes will continue be posted on the Court’s website, www.17thcircuit.illinoiscourts.gov.

During regular business hours, contact the Winnebago County Circuit Clerk’s Office at 815-319-4500 for assistance with scheduling information.

Main Courthouse Building located at 400 W. State St. will be closed to the public on Monday, 11/7/22.
The Criminal Justice Center located at 650 W. State St. and Juvenile Justice Center located at 211 S. Court St., REMAIN OPEN.
Individuals who have court appearances not related to an Order of Protection scheduled at the Courthouse should not appear and will be notified of a rescheduled court date.
Individuals who have an Order of Protection hearing at 1:30pm in Courtroom 311 should report to Courtroom A in the Criminal Justice Center at 1:30pm.
Individuals who have been instructed to report for Jury Duty on Monday, November 7th should NOT report.
Individuals who have court appearances scheduled in the Criminal Justice Center (Courtrooms A, B, C, or D) or in the Juvenile Justice Center (Courtrooms 1, 2, or 3) should attend court as scheduled.
