YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THAT IS POSTED ONLINE: Fake Shooting/Robbery Post Being Shared Locally/Nationally Online

Remember:
YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THAT IS POSTED ONLINE

Recently several sources contacted us in regards to a post they saw on a local Facebook Page called Rockford Buy & Sell, in reference to a robbery/shooting,
Saying the incident was local.

We have talked to the Rockford PD in regards to this post.

Rockford PD has said that it is a FAKE post that is being shared online
around the nation and is not a local incident.

It appears that it is a post to scare the public, and is not real.

A lot of trolls have hit the internet with these types of posts.
If it don’t come from a trusted source, then do not believe it!

Even the Thomasville Police Department in Georgia, made a post on it earlier today.

We woke up today to even more fake posts. We don’t know why this is happening, but rest assured none of it is true. Please report these type of posts to Facebook and go on about your day. Report the post and block the user so you don’t see any more of their fake nonsense. Unfortunately there are tons to go around, but the best thing is just to ignore them.
***If there were any actual emergency we would be sure to let you know!***
Remember, if the news isn’t from an official source, and isn’t confirmed by us or another official agency, take it with a grain of salt.

So we wanted to let everyone know, that the post being shared is NOT true.

However it is a good time to still remind people,
That if you conduct an online transaction in person.
Here a few safety tips to follow.

  • Always do the transaction at a safe place such as a police department parking lot, gas station, etc…
  • Make sure there are cameras nearby, pointed in your direction of the transaction.
  • Bring multiple people with you, to do the transactions (Safety in numbers)
  • Write down the license plate, make and model and description of the vehicle the other party is in,
before getting out to do the transaction.
  • Even better: Video/photo the vehicle, plate and party involved.
  • If the other party has nothing to hide, then most will not object to being filmed.
  • Document EVERYTHING
  • Remember to treat ALL transactions, as possible scams.
