Rockford Scanner™: Wednesday, Police Arrest A Suspect In A Recent Catalytic Convertor Theft Incident



On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m.,

Rockford Police officers responded to 2320 20th Street (Master Yates Inc.) in reference to an in-
progress catalytic converter theft.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, later identified as Christopher Gowin.

Officers then located a truck with a partially cut catalytic converter and
various other items.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the case and authorized
the charges listed below.

Christopher Gowin, 40, Rockford

Burglary from a Motor Vehicle
Possession of Burglary Tools
Criminal Damage to Property
Outstanding Warrant
