If discolored water occurs, it is not a health hazard. However, during any flushing procedures,
iron (red water) and manganese (black water) may become stirred up within the water main,
which can create staining on the porcelain and laundry. This work may result in the disturbance
of sediment, possibly containing lead. It is advised that you flush your water lines for 1 – 2 minutes
once work is completed in your area including removing and cleaning faucet aerator screens to
remove sediment. For this reason it is vital that the public be aware of the time and area that will
be affected. If there are any Water Quality questions, please contact water quality at the number
