The Rockford Police Department announced it issued 120 handsfree law violations
and over 60 citations for speeding during the April distracted driving enforcement period. The
Rockford Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway

The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by
the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Also during the month of April, the Rockford Police Department conducted traffic enforcement

In the month of April, we concentrated on the following areas:

N. Main Street
Newburg/Broadway
W. Riverside Boulevard
1900-2100 E. State Street
Auburn (River to Main Street)

During these enforcement details, there were 199 stops, 231 citations issued, 33 warnings issued,
one warrant, and three Fleeing to Elude. During one of the traffic stops, Rockford Police officers
