City and Get Connected 815 Partner for Non-Profit Education Sessions

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The City of Rockford and Get Connected 815 are partnering to offer five free educational sessions to help those wishing to establish a non-profit and those whose non-profit is less than five years old. Priority will be given to those whose focus is on adult or youth domestic, sexual or community violence prevention and/or intervention.

“We know there are many generous people in our community who have a passion for helping people and want to start their own non-profits but don’t know how to get started,” says Mayor Tom McNamara. “We want to help them get off on the right foot by giving them the guidance and support they need.”

Participants can attend one session or attend all. Each session will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Nordlof Center, 118 N. Main Street. There will also be a virtual option.

· Sunday, April 3 – Start-Up Check List

· Sunday, April 10 – Intro to Non-Profit Compliance

· Sunday, April 24 – Organizing Your Board and Non-Profit

· Sunday, May 1 – Strategic Plan, Budget and Program
