What possibly may have happened, according to sources:  

Sources are reporting a possible pedestrian fatality after being struck by a vehicle in Rockford.

At approximately 5:10 this evening emergency personnel were called to the area of S Alpine Road and O’Connell Street on the bridge south of the intersection, for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.

The pedestrian has reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident and another person was also transported to a local hospital with injuries from this accident.

Please avoid the area at this time.

Officers are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3000 block of S. Alpine Rd. S. Alpine Rd. will be shut down between American Rd. And Grinnell Dr. for several hours. Please avoid the area at this time.
