 Brief Synopsis:

On October 19, 2021 at approximately 1:19pm, the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office was called to 2014 N. Harlem Center Road for a domestic disturbance. Deputies were notified that the male subject was armed with a firearm and had been firing the weapon into the air at the residence. Deputies were also told that the male subject would fire at police.
As Deputies arrived the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office crisis negotiator was able to make contact with the male subject by phone. It was quickly learned that the subject was despondent over personal issues and wanted to end it all by the police. While speaking with the negotiator the subject fired several more rounds in the air and in the direction of Deputies.
The subject then walked to the end of the driveway and started to walk south towards Deputies on Harlem Center Road. At this time the subject still had the firearm in his hand. The Stephenson County Crisis Negotiator was able to talk him into putting his gun down on the ground. Deputies then approached the male subject and after a small altercation he was taken into custody. The subject was then transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
The male subject is identified as Clinton Keasler, age 30 of Freeport. Keasler is being charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Once released from the hospital Keasler will be held at the Stephenson County Jail and held without bond until he can be seen by a Stephenson County Judge.
The investigation of this incident is ongoing. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Illinois State Police, Illinois State Conservation Police, Mercy Health MD1, Freeport Rural Fire Ambulance, and Star Ambulance.
