1 Person Arrested For Crack Cocaine, After Police Conduct A Traffic Stop in Rockford

On Friday, October 1, 2021, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers conducted a traffic stop at 2904 W. State Street.

During the investigation, officers observed a large bag of what appeared to be crack cocaine inside the vehicle.

The driver, Kahyal Merrills, was taken into custody, and lodged in the County Jail.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the investigation and authorized the charges listed below.
