Sad News Out Of Joliet: 2 Year Old Has Passed Away After Finding Their Dads Gun And Shooting Himself In The Head

  (Joliet, Illinois)- On June 2, 2021 at approximately 8:55AM, Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Eastern Avenue for a report of a 2-year-old male child that had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Upon arrival, Officers located the victim and his father in the residence. Further investigation determined that the child had shot himself in the head after locating a loaded firearm in the living room.

Responding Officers immediately performed lifesaving measures and the child was transported to Amita St Joseph Medical Center where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

It was determined that the firearm was legally owned by the child’s father, who was cooperative with Detectives.

This incident remains under investigation.
