Rockford Scanner™: Police Chase Ends Up In A Very Serious Accident, Multiple Injuries & Extrication

Update from the WCSO:

On Thursday evening Sept. 5th, 2019, at approximately 10:30 pm, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were in the area of N. Central Ave. and observed a suspicious vehicle, a dark color SUV driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed.

Deputies attempted to stop the suspicious vehicle which fled from the Deputies at a high rate of speed. The pursuit was terminated by the Deputies.

Deputies located the vehicle a short time later which was occupied by two subjects. The driver of the SUV again started to flee and attempted to strike the Sheriff’s deputies vehicle.

Deputies pursued the vehicle which was fleeing west on Auburn St. At the intersection of Auburn St & N. Springfield Ave, the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at the intersection.

The two occupants of the suspect vehicle along with the one person in the other vehicle were transported to local hospitals for injuries from the crash.

2 people have died.

The Rockford Police Department is investigating the incident along with the Illinois State Police Integrity Task Force.

Accident update on Springfield and Auburn: multiple victims trapped, additional fire companies and three ambulances requested. three patients transported.


Sources are reporting there was a police chase and a vehicle involved crashed.

It happened around 10:50 pm tonight in the area of Auburn & Springfield. 

Multiple injuries are being reported. It is not yet known on the severity of the injuries. We have been told the injuries do appear to be serious.

(A local news station is reporting this to be a fatal.)

But not confirmed. 

Multiple extrication units were being requested. 

One of the vehicles hit a pole and knocked the power out in the area.

Reports of the police chase was on Auburn near the “Wreck-It-Round-A-Bout” (Main)  and had almost 20 officers chasing it.  And was headed West on Auburn, when it crashed at Springfield. 

Power is out in the area, due to the accident. Estimated restore time is approx. 1 AM. 

Police have not yet confirmed this or released any information. 

Source sent us the following: “One witness said he was almost struck on n main. Another witness said she was almost run off the road on auburn st. Two vehicles, one is a black gmc terrain. The other vehicle “an suv” say witnesses. Is not distinguishable at this time. We believe that the occupant of that car  has passed away. The person in the gmc terrain is being taken by ambulance with life threatening injuries.”

Sources are reporting a business was robbed near Phelps ave in Rockford.

Suspects are described as the following:
2 black males approx. 20 years old, wearing hoodies and armed with guns.

Unknown on injuries.

RPD has yet to confirm this or release any information.

Sources are reporting a bad accident in Loves Park.

It happened around 7:45 pm tonight near Perryville and Rock Valley Parkway.

Reports of an accident that involves at least 3 vehicles.

One of the vehicles may have rolled over.

Injuries were being reported.

Rockford Scanner™: Police Squad Involved In An Accident

Sources are reporting a Rockford PD squad has hit a vehicle near 6th st and 2nd ave in Rockford. 

We have been told conflicting reports on injuries.
So it is unknown if there are injuries. 

The cause of the accident is under investigation. 

Laurie DeVlieger said:  I was right behind the cop the girl totally ran a stop sign and the cop T-bones her it wasn’t the cops fault at all!!”

We have reached out via phone (Media Line) and email to the RPD,to get information.

And they have yet to respond back to us.

Rockford Scanner™: Shooting Incident in Rockford

This afternoon several emergency personnel were on scene of a shooting incident in the 2200 block of Shelley, on Rockford’s West side.

Reports of several gunshots were fired.

One person was grazed by the gunfire, and refused medical attention.

We have been told the RPD has suspect information, but has yet to release it.

After we posted this, RPD  released a statement on the incident:


On Thursday, September 5, 2019 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Rockford Police Patrol Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2200 block of Shelly Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a 22-year-old male victim suffering from a graze wound. He declined medical attention. Officers learned the victim was with two other males in the backyard when two suspects fired shots at them after running through the residence. The suspects also took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a burgundy, four-door SUV. The incident does not appear to be random.
