Rockford Scanner™: Trailer On Fire, Several Fire Departments Responding




UPDATE:  The trailer had a previous fire there 3 months ago. And somehow caught back on fire again.  The scene was quickly handled and under control. No injuries were being reported.

Sources are reporting a trailer fire.

It happened just after 10 pm tonight in the area of South Main and Blue Lake ave. Several area fire departments are en route to assist in battling the fire. Unknown on injuries at the time of writing this. This is still developing. The cause of the fire in under investigation.

 








 

Rockford Scanner™: Man Charged In Allegedly Killing A Rockford Man




 

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces charges against a Rockford man in reference to a murder that happened in April.

On April 7th, 2019, Rockford Police Officers were called to a home in the 600 Block of Alliance Avenue for a death investigation.  Officers found the body of a deceased male inside the home.

The victim was later identified as Samuel Randolph, 64 of Rockford. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined that Randolph died as a result of blunt force trauma to the body. Detectives conducted a follow up investigation that was recently reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.  As a result, First Degree Murder charges have been authorized against Douglas Williams (D.O.B. 1/13/1963). Williams is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail on unrelated charges. A $2 million warrant has been issued on the murder charges.

 

First Degree Murder is a Class M Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 20-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a possible extended term sentence of Natural Life followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

 

The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.

 








 

Rockford Scanner™: Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Rockford man who sexually assaulted a child




 

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that a Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Rockford man who sexually assaulted a child.

On May 25th, 2019, Rockford Police Detectives responded to a Rockford medical office, after medical staff reported a possible sexual assault of a child. Detectives met with staff, who indicated a patient had been sexually assaulted and medical testing came back showing that the child tested positive for HIV. Detectives conducted a follow up investigation and the defendant, Stephen G. Grimes (D.O.B. 6/14/1987) was developed as the suspect. The investigation was reviewed by Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.

As a result, Grimes was charged and recently indicted on multiple counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, Criminal Sexual Assault and Criminal Transmission of HIV charges. The charges allege the sexual assaults began as far back as 2005, when the victim was under the age of 13.

Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. The defendant is eligible for an extended term of 6-60 years in the Department of Corrections because the victim was under the age of 13 at the time of the alleged offense.

Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years up to natural life of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Criminal Transmission of HIV is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Grimes is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail on $1 million bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment at 9am on July 12th, 2019, in front of the Honorable Judge John Lowry in Courtroom B at the Winnebago County Justice Center.

Rockford Scanner™: Man Falls 3 Stories From A Roof in Roscoe, Medical Helicopter Dispatched




Sources are reporting a man has fallen at least 3 stories from a roof this morning in Roscoe while trying to install an exhaust fan on a roof.

Source said: “Male in his 30’s fell approximately 35 feet from the roof while installing an exhaust fan on the roof at American Aluminum in Roscoe at 8:30 this morning.

Fire Marshall’s were there for an inspection when it happened. He did not have a safety harness on. When paramedics came, he had an approximate 4′ pool of blood around his head. He’s in bad shape!

A medical helicopter went on standby and was en route to the scene, when they decided to cancel the helicopter and transport via an ambulance, because they needed to rush him to the emergency room because of the severity of the injuries.”

Sources are reporting a bad accident on Rockford East Side.

It happened around 4 p.m. in the area of 7th Street and 8th Avenue

There is a rollover accident near this location. Reports of one vehicle rolling over and people possibly trapped inside.

Injuries were also being reported. But it is not yet known on the severity of the injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Sources are reporting a bad accident in Boone County.

It happened around 3:40 PM today near 76 and Manchester.

Reports of a bad accident that involves several vehicles near this intersection.

Injuries were being reported. One person was unconscious.

 

 








 

Rockford Scanner™: Do NOT Use Your Debit/Credit Cards At Local Stores, Alleged Thefts Going On




We have had several people reporting some local businesses have been stealing peoples debit/credit cards and using them illegally to purchase items. We can not confirm this, but several people have contacted us and said they have been victims. To put a long story short: If you have to hand over your card, then do NOT use it. Pay cash. If you are a victim, then call police right away. Below is from one alleged victim, there have been numerous reports of it not only happening at the local Mcdonalds, but several other area businesses as well.

UPDATE:  Sources at Midtown Wireless said “Scene on 6th and E. State St. was a police chase for speeding 30 mph over the limit the suspect parked onto the property and it lead to a resistant arrest inside a business.”
