Police have taken Donald Ashford Jr. into custody on Tuesday March 5th 2019 and has been booked into the Winnebago County Jail around noon. His next court appearance is March 19th at 9am.
On October 8th, 2016, just after 3:00pm, Cherry Valley Police were called to the south parking lot of the CherryVale Mall after reports of a shooting. Officers located one male victim, who had been shot outside of the JCPenney’s store. The victim was taken to the hospital, treated and released. Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation which was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and charges were authorized against Donald Ashford, Jr.
Donald Ashford, Jr. (D.O.B. 8/26/1994) was indicted on four counts of Attempt First Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and six counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon charges.
Attempt First Degree Murder is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a minimum of 21 years to Natural Life in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Aggravated Battery with a Firearm is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 3-7 years in the Illinois department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release
Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon is a Class 3 Felony that is punishable by a special sentence of 2-10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release.
The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Sources said there are numerous police and crime scene tape up at the Subway on 11th st.
Sources told us the business was robbed and the suspect got away.
We can only confirm a scene there. As to what actually happened, RPD has not released any information yet.

Sources are reporting a rollover accident with injuries near Roscoe.
It happened around 3:30 pm today near Erickson Drive in Roscoe.
Sources said a vehicle was ran off the roadway. And when it was ran off the road, it rolled over. It ended up landing back on all 4 tires.
Injuries were being reported. Unknown on the severity of the injuries.
Sources are reporting a water main break in Rockford.
Rockford Water Department alerted residents about a water main break on 19th Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Street (Rockford, IL 61108).
Water is expected to be off for 3-6 hours.
They have some equipment on site and are working to repair the issue. They currently have some partial barricades up to divert traffic away from driving through, please be mindful of city employees working in the area to get everything back together for the residents!
Sources are reporting an auto accident near Loves Park.
It happened a little after 1 pm in the area of E Riverside and Bell School.
Injuries were reported. Unknown on the severity of the injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Several sources were reporting a scene in Loves Park last night.
It happened approx. 10:30 pm near Windswept Way in Loves Park.
LPPD told us: Officers pulled over a vehicle with multiple subjects inside.
The driver had a revoked driver’s license and the passenger fled from the traffic stop on foot. Police searched the area and the passenger was later apprehended. The passenger was wanted on a warrant.
Another subject was located inside a residence on Windswept Way and taken into custody on a warrant.

Sources are reporting another armed robbery in Rockford.
This one happened last night just after 11 pm. It happened in the 1600 block of Hamilton ave in Rockford. That is located near the area of 11th st and Sandy Hollow.
Google maps shows the address as Ken-Rock Apartments
We were told there was an armed robbery near this location and the suspect used a gun during the robbery. Unknown on injuries. Unknown on suspect information.
