An evening news story listed that “ A Winnebago County Jail Inmate Escapes Custody after attending a Funeral.”

For Clarification Purpose’s, the subject RICKY RENALDO HARRIS B/M 52 years of age was NOT in the Custody of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.

This subject was originally arrested by Loves Park Police Department and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police on 05/23/2018 on Numerous Retail Theft Charges.

On June 26th, 2018 a Furlough Order was issued by a Winnebago County Judge allowing Harris to be released at 900am, from the Custody of the Sheriff’s Jail and was ordered to return to the Jail at 1:30 pm.
The Purpose of the Furlough was to attend a family members funeral. The order listed a Person who he was released to a ( Civilian ) by order of the Judge.

Harris by his own volition failed to honor the Judges orders and did not return to the jail.

AT NO TIME WAS HARRIS IN THE CUSTODY OF THE WINNEBAGO COUNTY SHERIFF during this furlough.

Upon failure to return from the furlough, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police Deputies obtained an arrest Warrant since the subject was AWOL from a furlough on the same date June 26th, 2018. This is considered an Awol/Escape charge.

All Law Enforcement agencies in the Winnebago County region are attempting to locate Harris since he has been involved in numerous retail thefts from local retail stores.

Harris is described as 6’0”, 190 lbs, Black Hair and Blue eyes.
