Storms will develop ahead of an approaching cold front this afternoon and evening.  A few scattered supercell may form ahead of the cold front and squall line which will pose the greatest threat for tornadoes.

For the Rockford area, we are under a Slight Risk for Severe Weather with damaging winds up to 70 mph and large hail will be the main threat.  Heavy rain and frequent lightning are also possible. These storms are expected to develop and be in the area after 1 pm through about 5 pm this evening.
