On April 30, 2021 at about 12:30 p.m. Janesville Police officers were called to Mercy Hospital for a report of a 16-year-old male being treated for a gunshot wound.
Through the course of the investigation it was learned that the victim and two friends, 16 and 19 years of age, were visiting a residence in the 200 block of Linn St, where no one was home.
The 16-year-old friend was handling a hand gun when it went off. The bullet passed in and out the victim’s flank/hip area, through a television and window, exiting the residence.
The scene was located but lack of cooperation did not produce the handgun used.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
The 16-year-old suspect is being held at the Rock County Youth Services Center on the following charges:
First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
Possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18
