RS Fans: Armed Robbery & Shots Fired, Possible Shooting Victim At Rockford Business

RPD release info:

On October 28th., 2016, at approximately 8:00 PM, the Rockford Police Department responded to the Sprint Store, 6602 E. State Street, for an armed robbery.  Upon arrival officers were advised that two suspects entered the store, one being armed with a handgun, and demanded phones.  Employees turned over an unspecified number of phones to the suspects who subsequently fled the store.  No one was injured in the incident.  The suspects are described as both being black males in their 20’s, wearing dark clothes with their hoods pulled up.  The one that was armed with a handgun was wearing sunglasses.  It is possible they fled the area in a dark color unknown make and model sedan.

At the time of this release no additional details were available


UPDATE: Original RS fans reports said armed robbery and shots fired and a possible shooting victim. After we posted this, RS fan said there was an armed robbery and the suspects tied up the employees and held guns to their heads. But no shooting victims.

Rockford Police are encrypted, and still have not released any information on this robbery or the Robbery from earlier when the suspects stabbed someone multiple times, right down the road. RS fans said that there is a bunch of police and crime scene units at the Sprint store on E State st, in the 6600 block. They said there was an armed robbery to the store and multiple shots fired. Unknown if anyone was shot. At least two fans said one person was shot, but not confirmed.

Update from RS fan Jo Ann Romaniszak My son works there. 2 black males are the suspects. All workers are ok. Gun held to son’s head to fill bag with phones. He couldn’t tell me anything else. He was answering cops questions
