Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested For Running From Police


On 07/09/19 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue GMC truck traveling south at the 4000 block of North IL Rte. 2. the vehicle then continued to increase its speed in attempt to elude the Deputies.

After investigation, Danny Roos, age 63 of Oregon, was arrested for Fleeing/Attempt to Elude a Police Officer. Roos was also issued citations for a Non Functional Registration Light and Speeding 15-20 MPH Over the Speed Limit.

Roos was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.



Rockford Scanner™: One man dead after fleeing from police, Another arrested for burglary

Sources are reporting a fatal accident in Ogle County.

It happened one day around 1 AM In ogle County in the area of the 1700 block of Liberty Hill.

Oregon Police Department were responding to a burglary call near Mount Morris. While en route to the scene they saw a vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 64 between Mount Morris and Oregon at an extremely high rate of speed and went to chase it.

The officer came upon a vehicle that rolled several times and found the occupant outside the vehicle. He is identified as 34-year-old Joshua Denning of Oregon. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

A few hours later police were responding to an unconscious man laying in a yard in the area of Franklin and 5th. That person was identified as Jason Marks. He was later arrested on burglary charges stemming from a January accident.

Police believe he was in the vehicle with Joshua Denning when it crashed.

On Saturday 02/23/19 at approximately 9:50pm the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a train derailment at the Pines Rd crossing just west of Devils Backbone.

This railway is owned by Illinois Railway and operated by Omni Track. 99 empty rail cars (no locomotive) were being stored on the rail between Gale Rd and Oregon Trail.

For an unknown reason the rail cars began to move southeast towards Pines Rd were the unaccompanied cars struck a derailing device causing 17 of the 99 empty rail cars to derail.

During the derailment a car caused damage to a ComEd power pole. The cars came to rest on Pines Rd and the north ditch.

Pines Rd is expected to be closed all day Sunday.

Several sources are reporting a train derailment in Ogle County.

Sources said a train had 6 cars derailed around 10 pm tonight. The cause of the derailment is not yet known and is under investigation. No injuries have been reported.

Rockford Scanner™: Police Arrest Several People On Warrants




On 05/30/18 the following were arrested for Ogle County Outstanding Warrants:

Bronson D Hughes, age 35, of Sterling for Failure to Appear. Hughes has a bond of $1101 and will return to court on 05/31/18 at 1:00 pm.

LLoyd W Martin, age 38, of Mt. Morris for Failure to Appear. Martin had a bond of $503. Martin did post the $503 bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail. Martin does not have to return for court.

On 05/31/18 the following were arrested for Ogle County Outstanding warrants:

Kole E. Mowry, age 19, of Oregon for Failure to Appear. Mowry had a bond of $307. Mowry received a $50 purge bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail. Mowry will have to return to court on 06/25/18 at 9:00 am.

Donovan M. Holsinger , age 39, of Byron for Failure to Appear. Holsinger had a bond of $556. Holsinger received a partial purge for $75. Holsinger was released from the Ogle County Jail. Holsinger will have to return to court on 06/25/18 at 9:00am.

Zachary Grove, age 24, of Stillman Valley was arrested for Failure to Appear. Grove had a bond of $567. Grove posted the $567 bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail. Grove does not have to return for court.




Rockford Scanner™: One Person Dead, Another In Critical Condition After A Serious Accident


Fatal Accident

On Tuesday morning, May 8th, 2018 at approximately 0507 hours, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Leaf River and Mt. Morris EMS/Fire responded to the 6200 block of N. Mt. Morris Road (Leaf River) for a reported two vehicle crash with injuries.

At the location, it was determined that a northbound vehicle driven by Richard Boyden (M/W age 45 of Oregon) collided with a southbound vehicle driven by Nancy Plemmons (F/W age 81 of Leaf River).

Initial investigation revealed Plemmons vehicle crossed over the center line into the northbound lane where it struck Boydens vehicle head on. Boyden was extricated from his vehicle and flown to the Rockford Memorial Hospital by React Helicopter for critical injuries.

Plemmons was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ogle County Coroner’s Office. Mt. Morris road was blocked for several hours while the crash was investigated. Mt. Morris Police assisted the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation
