Several emergency personnel responded to a fire at Goodwill in Machesney park

See it Send it

Around 2 PM today, several emergency personnel were dispatched to the Goodwill store at N. 2nd St. in Harlem.  There was a fire inside the compactor.  Emergency personnel arrived on scene and was able to quickly get the situation under control.  At the time of writing this it is not yet known, the extent of the damage or the cause of the fire.

North Park Fire Protection Dist. units responded to a trash compactor fire at Goodwill this afternoon. Fire was contained to the compacter unit, but smoke did spread throughout the store. The MABAS Mobile Ventilation Unit was requested to help remove the smoke from the occupancy and allow normal operations to resume as quickly as possible. Huge thanks to Harlem Roscoe for their automatic aid assistance, Boone District #2 for bringing the MVU and to the other automatic aid companies that were in route but returned once the fire was under control.
