RS Fans Reporting Many Officers At Local Jewelry Store, Possible Robbery Or Shooting Via RS Fans

ROCKFORD, Ill. – On Wednesday November 23, 2016 at about 7:30 p.m., the Rockford Police Department responded to Mincemoyer Jewelers, 6585 Lexus Drive, in reference to a report of an Armed Robbery to the business. Upon Rockford Police’s arrival it was learned an employee of the store was walking out to their vehicle after locking the doors. A lone armed suspect approached the employee in the parking lot and forced the employee back inside the store at gunpoint. The employee went back in the store followed by the suspect. The employee was able to escape the store after dropping some belongings. The suspect gathered the employee’s belongings and then fled the store. No one was injured during the Robbery.

On Monday, November 28, 2016 at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Rockford Police Department responded to Harvard State Bank, 2470 Eastrock Drive, in reference to a report of an Armed Bank Robbery. Upon Rockford Police’s arrival, it was learned a lone armed suspect entered the bank and demanded money. The suspect was armed with a silver handgun and fired two shots during the course of the Robbery. No one was injured during the robbery. The suspect fled the bank on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect in both Robberies is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” to 6’00” tall, with a large build weighing between 220 and 240 lbs. The suspect was wearing black gloves, black hooded sweat jacket, black pants and black shoes.

This is a joint investigation with the Rockford Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. No further information is available for release at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. Surveillance photos of the suspect are attached.

Based on the information available at this time investigators believe these two Robberies may be related.

On 11-23-16 at 1954 hours Officers responded to Mincemoyer Jewelers, 6585 Lexus Dr., for an armed robbery to the business. The victim was closing the store and walking out to his vehicle when he was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun and ordered the victim back into the store. The victim went back into the business and the suspect followed. Once in the store the victim ran out, leaving the suspect still inside. The suspect then fled the store, taking the victim’s laptop computer he left behind.

The suspect entered a black Hyundai SUV and fled the scene, driving northbound from the business. The victim was not injured during the incident and no other items were taken from the store. The suspect was described as a white male, in his 20s, thin build, wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. He was armed with a sliver handgun.
