Vehicle Struck By Gunfire Near The Fairgrounds

On 11/10/16 at 7:58 p.m. Rockford Police responded to several calls for shots fired in the area of Avon St and Andrews St. While saturating the area Officers were flagged down by a victim whose vehicle which was parked and unoccupied had been struck by gunfire. The victim’s vehicle was in the parking lot adjacent to 317 Underwood. Officers then located three spent shell casings in the roadway in the 300 block of Underwood. Nothing else in the area was found to be struck by gunfire and no one was injured. At the time of this post no witnesses have been identified.

RS Fans Reporting Shots Fired, Possible Shooting Victim

Several Rockford Scanner  fans have contacted us and said there were multiple shots that were fired near the Fairground housing.  At least seven shots were reported to have been heard.  The suspects fled in a white vehicle.  Possible shooting victim, but not confirmed

19 Year old Shot in Rockford

On October 04, 2016 at 10:14 PM Rockford Police responded to the intersection of Andrews Street & Underwood Avenue reference an aggravated battery with a firearm investigation. It was learned that a 19 year old Rockford resident had been shot and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the victim is non life threatening injuries

One Person Fighting For Their Life After Being Shot in Rockford

On September 27, 2016, 22-year-old Lanair Jones-Sullivan was shot and killed in the 1400 block of Birch Court. Rockford Police Department detectives conducted a follow-up investigation into the murder and the results were reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for the suspect, Demario Thompson.

ARRESTED: Demario Thompson 23-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGE: First Degree Murder
BOND: $1,500,000

On October 21, 2016, Rockford Police detectives determined that Thompson was inside an apartment in the 2900 block of Conklin Drive. Numerous officers and investigators, including the Rockford Police Department SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiators, responded to the scene. Thompson subsequently surrendered without further incident.

Thompson was later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond. A photo of Thompson is attached.

This is an ongoing investigation. No further information is available at this time. Additional information may be released as it becomes available.

All charges are merely allegations and parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

 


On Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at about 7:45 p.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Birch Court in reference to a shooting incident. When they arrived officers located a 22 year old male victim who had been shot in the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.


On September 27th., 2016 at 7:45 PM., the Rockford Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Meadow Ct. for a shooting. Upon arrival officers located a male gunshot victim who was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. No suspect was present at the scene but he is described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt, fitted black pants, and a hat. A possible suspect vehicle is a maroon Chevrolet Impala or Malibu, silver stripe on the bottom trim, sunroof, and tinted back windows. The vehicle was last seen heading west on Buckbee Street.
