Rockford Scanner™: WISCONSIN STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL

WISCONSIN STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL: POSTPONED UNTIL FRIDAY, APRIL 12

Due to the potential for severe weather on Thursday, the Wisconsin Statewide Tornado Drill has been postponed until Friday, April 12th. Citizens should note that any warnings issued Thursday are not part of a drill, and are real warnings of severe weather.

On Friday, a mock tornado watch will be issued at 1:00 p.m. followed by a statewide mock tornado warning at 1:45 p.m.

Many radio and TV stations across the state will issue the test tornado warnings. In addition, mock alerts will be issued on NOAA Weather Radios and many communities will sound their tornado sirens to test their emergency severe weather plans.

Later, a mock tornado warning will be issued at 6:45 p.m. to give families and second shift workers a chance to practice their emergency plans.

The Rock County Outdoor Warning Sirens will be activated at 1:45 pm and 6:45 pm for the drill. The National Weather Service indicated that there is no threat of severe weather on Friday therefore the testing will go on as planned for Friday.
