On May 27, 2018 at 10:50 a.m. a female victim came to the District One Police Headquarters. She reported her ex-boyfriend, Zachery Laster, had shot at her while she was in the 1100 block of Blake St, Rockford, IL. She said the shooting just happened and she drove to the police station to report it. She was not injured and nothing appeared to have been struck by bullets. Rockford Police Patrol officers and detectives investigated the incident.
The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and the following charges were authorized:
ZACHERY LASTER B/M 28 years of age ROCKFORD RESIDENT
UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON
RECKLESS DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
The Rockford Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Investigations Bureau (779-500-6551) or Crime Stoppers (815-963-7867).
The charges against the suspect are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
“Why the neighbors didn’t hear any shots why the police didn’t come that morning she need to move around and just accept he don’t want her why lie and play with somebody lively hood just bitter, did she tell she threw his clothes in the middle of the street and then went to the police station.
It’s a shame somebody can say you did something to them and you got a warrant without proof”
