Police Arrest Suspect For Burglary in Rockford




On Thursday, October 27, 2016 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to a residential alarm in the 3000 block of Lapey Street. Upon arrival, officers located a door to a detached garage partially open, with the garage lights on, and located 54-year-old Russel G. Newble in the garage. Officers detained Newble while they spoke with the homeowner who advised that he had locked the garage door, and Newble did not have permission to be in the garage. Newble was also found to be in possession of a crack pipe. Newble was arrested and charged with Burglary and Possession of Drug Equipment.
Newble was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
No further information will be released at this time.
All charges are merely allegations and parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
