Animal Services Announces Free Pet Adoption Days
Thanks to a Grant from Maddie’s Fund
Adoption fees waived September 27-29, 2018

(Rockford, IL) – If you’ve been waiting to add a pet to your family, now is the perfect time! Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS) is offering FREE adoptions on all cats and dogs starting Thursday, September 27 through Saturday, September 29, 2018. WCAS hopes to find homes for 75-100 animals during this three day event. This Free Adoption Event is made possible through a grant from Maddie’s Fund®, a national family foundation established by Dave and Cheryl Duffield to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals.

“Winnebago County Animal Services will be going through some exciting changes over the next few weeks, and as we’ve been planning for those changes it became very evident that we need to clear some space in the shelter. If we’re able to send home several dozen pets to new homes we will be in much better shape to make the necessary changes to improve the shelter for the long term”, says Brett Frazier, Animal Services Administrator.

Frazier also stated, “Maddie’s Fund is an awesome partner, not just to this shelter but to shelters nationally, and we’re thrilled that they have jumped on board to help us send home a lot of pets here in Winnebago County.” Frazier noted that interested adopters can stop at Animal Services ahead of the event during open hours to see dogs and cats who will be available.

All adoptions include a wellness exam, spay or neuter, microchip, vaccinations including a one year rabies shot, flea and tick preventative, and more. Winnebago County residents also receive a one year rabies registration tag. WCAS will also have a streamlined adoption process. There’s no longer any pre-approval required and pets will go home the same day.

To help Winnebago County Animal Services save more lives, adopt a companion animal, view hours, or to volunteer, please visit their website at www.wcasrock.org or call 815-319-4100.
