Rockford Scanner™: Suspect Robs A Rockford Store, Arrested Short Time Afterwards

On Tuesday, June 19th, 2018, shortly after 10:30 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the Dollar General, 1015 Charles Street, in reference to a robbery. When they arrived, officers learned that a white male suspect, dressed in all dark clothing, entered the store and approached a cashier. The suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The suspect then took an undisclosed amount of currency from the register before fleeing the scene on foot. No one was injured during the incident.

A description of the suspect was broadcast to other officers who were in the area. A short time later a Rockford Police Department traffic investigator located a subject, closely matching the description of the suspect, near the intersection of Benton Street and North Longwood Street. The suspect was stopped for questioning.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident. The investigation was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized against the suspect, Eamonn Talkington, for the listed charges.

ARRESTED: Eamonn Talkington 36-years-old Calendonia, IL
CHARGES: Aggravated Robbery

The charges against the Eamonn Talkington are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Talkington is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court
