PLEASE SHARE! One tip…that’s all it takes.

A 21-year-old Rockford man was killed after being struck by two different vehicles while bicycling on Sandy Hollow Road early this morning.

Matthew Clarke was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 a.m. An autopsy revealed he died of multiple blunt trauma. Toxicological test results will be available in about two weeks, though there was no sign of drugs or alcohol on the part of Clarke.

Deputy Chief Theo Glover said the man was riding his bike at about 1:45 a.m. going west in the 2600 block of Sandy Hollow Road when he was struck by a vehicle (white or light in color) going the same direction.

“Evidence points that he was initially hit and then we had some witnesses come across the body lying in the roadway,” Glover said. “They then saw him get hit the second time (tan minivan).”

Police are still looking for the vehicles.
