Rockford Scanner™: Vehicle Hits House, 2 Vehicles And Flees From Police Over 100 MPH

A 26-year-old Janesville man is in custody after striking a residence and two vehicles while driving in the 1700 block of St. Lawrence Avenue at 3:52 a.m. today. When our officers arrived on scene, the suspect’s vehicle reversed from the fence/patio area and nearly struck a patrol car before taking off onto St. Lawrence Avenue.
Our officers attempted to stop the vehicle and it fled from officers. Officers pursued the vehicle for two blocks before the pursuit was called off. However about 30-40 seconds later, the vehicle was spotted again being driven erratically and swerving all over the road. The Town of Beloit Police Department assisted our officers in setting up stop sticks near Newark and McKinley roads before we attempted to safely pull over the suspect again.
After the suspect hit the stop sticks, the suspect stopped for a moment but then fled onto Afton Road at a high rate of speed that reached 100 miles per hour. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office set up a second set of stop sticks as the suspect was coming into Janesville. The man was arrested in the 500 block of South Washington Street with the help of a Rock County Sheriff’s Office K9 and a taser deployment after he attempted to flee on foot.
The man, Thomas D. Weidner, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense, hit and run to property, hit and run to unattended vehicle, operating while suspended, and felony fleeing.
Thank you to all of the agencies that assisted us with this call today.
