Update from NPFD:
At 7:39 this morning, North Park firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 700 block of Harlem Road. Our first unit arrived on the scene at 7:42 and advised they had a home with heavy fire on the exterior of a rear porch.
Crews knocked down the fire quickly and kept most of the damage to the exterior of the structure. Passersby were critical to a good outcome by calling 911 upon discovery of the fire as they drove by, they also alerted an occupant that was home at the time that the house was on fire and to evacuate.
North Park responded with three engine companies and thirteen personnel, Loves Park and Harlem Roscoe also responded auto aid with a combined seven firefighters. The damage was limited enough that the occupants can remain in their home. Thanks also to our Machesney Park Sheriff’s officers for their assistance on this incident.
