Rockford Scanner™: Police Searching For 2 Suspects After Hacking A Keyless FOB & Breaking Into Vehicles

Officer Oxenreider went out to take a theft from motor vehicle. While speaking to the owner of the car, she insisted that she’d locked her car doors. Officer Ox discovered that the car had keyless entry which requires a FOB to be in close proximity to the car. After doing some detective work it was discovered that where the victim hung her keys just inside of her door was close enough to the car to activate the proximity lock to the car. We know that a lot of people hang their keys close to the door to their driveway so that you don’t lose them. We would suggest you add a little more distance from your keys to your car if you have a proximity lock. It was a new one for us, so please pass this on.

If you read our post from earlier about a suspect entering a car overnight, we wanted to update you. After stealing a wallet from the car these 2 suspects used a stolen credit card at a local business.
